Rosato of Italy has just debuted its colorized sterling silver bracelet designs and new, hand-painted animal prints and fabulous watches at The Yellow Door. Company founder, designer and owner Simona Rosato said "The best way to take advantage of this moment of doubt and uncertainty and overcome it successfully is to keep on believing in who we are and in what we do," Rosato continued, "We have to maintain the highest standards of our 'Made in Italy' signature, and focus on luxury luxury and quality." Rosato established the Rosato Co. in 2001 with a line of jewelry designs crafted in gold, enamels and other materials. She subsequently unveiled the Rosato brands's collection of whimsical charms and pendants in 2004, and established commercial distribution of the line, which quickly found success throughout Europe. Love Shines This Mother's Day...
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz is teaming up with long-time Brooklyn jeweler, The Yellow Door, Ltd, to help bring joy this upcoming Mother’s Day to people who are struggling due to the loss of a job, or their home. On Friday, May 8 beginning at 10:30 am, Borough President Markowitz will be honorary Yellow Door “salesman,” and will be handing out free sterling silver heart shaped necklaces to 100 deserving individuals – free, with no strings attached.
“We are well aware of the state of the economy,” says Luna Bijou Zemmol, CEO of The Yellow Door, Ltd, a jewelry and gift retail business which her family has operated in Brooklyn since 1966. “And if there’s something we can do to help a family who’s going through some tough times by helping them show their love with a beautiful Mother’s Day gift, we’re all for it.”
Free sterling silver necklaces – gift wrapped in The Yellow Door gift box and valued at over $100 each – are being given away to individuals who have lost their job or home. “Losing your job or your home is a traumatic experience, and the Borough President’s office is happy to team up with The Yellow Door to extend our hands and say ‘we understand and hope this helps,” states Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Borough President. “Mother’s Day is an important holiday – and we want people to be able to express their appreciation, despite financial troubles they may be experiencing,” continues President Markowitz.
To claim your free necklace:
Individuals can receive their free necklace by going to The Yellow Door, Ltd, at 1308 Avenue M (between East 13th and East 14th Street) in Brooklyn on Friday, May 8. Borough President Markowitz will be giving out necklaces beginning at 10:30 am. One necklace will be given per family, on a first come-first served basis. Individuals must bring proof of their job or home loss, such as a letter of foreclosure or termination, along with their identification.

First Jeweler
Move over Academy Awards, this season's most influential event was the inauguration. First Lady Michelle Obama accessorized her yellow coat and dress ensemble by Isabel Todel for the swearing-in ceremony with diamond studs. At the inaugural balls, she wore elegant diamond linear earrings and stacked diamond bangle bracelets with her creamy one shoulder dress. The night before at the "We Are One" concert at the Lincoln Memorial, Michelle also wore diamond Quatrefoil chandelier earrings with lotus ear-wire and black diamond centers. "By choosing to wear a pair of classic diamond linear earrings and diamond bangle bracelets, Michelle Obama has defined her own take on a timeless and enduring diamond look in a way that is destined to become iconic in fashion history," states Sally Morrison, of the Diamond Information Center.

Jewelry Makes A Bright, Beautiful Return to New York Fashion Week's Runways....
If there is one trend that emerged from the catwalks of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for Spring 2009 in New York, it's that clothing is fun again -- which means that sparkling jewels were back and bigger than ever on the numerous runways. Although there is still a group of clothing designers who continue to pray at the shrine of "minimalism" a growing number of clothing creators are looking at fashion and jewelry with fresh eyes. Noteworthy jewelry names such as Alexis Bittar, CHARRIOL, Majorica Pearls, and licensees Ralph Lauren were among those that brought gems to the Bryant Park tents. Shows made it abundantly clear that more clothing designers love jewelry and understand the glam factor involved with mixing clothing and jewels together.

What Women Want...
Despite the tough economic outlook, holiday buying is still a priority. A recent survey by the National Retail Federation found consumers willing to spring approximately $832 on average for gifts -- just 1.9 percent more than the $816 they spent last year, when purchasing rose 3.1 percent.
Near the top of this list, women note they want jewelry. Aside from classics, one of the latest trends in jewelry is the statement necklace. Designers such as Alexis Bittar and Majorica, have incorporated statement necklaces into their collections. Meanwhile, Philip Stein Teslar, CHARRIOL and Burberry have launched new watches this year -- and the trend in over sized luxury watches continues to be very strong.
